Default Lame pump question

OK, so the insulin duration on the pump is set for three hours. Am I right in thinking that WE told the pump how long we THINK the insulin will be working? So that it can use that to subtract insulin if he eats again before three hours?

He gets all the bolus at once right? It's only spread out if I decide to do that right?

I told you it was lame

Yes. It's the IOB thingy. But does the Omnipod do this??? I'm not sure if the Pod takes IOB into account...

And it's not a lame question. I also forget about that. I once asked on FB how to cancel a bolus. Then I remembered, a bolus goes through and that's it. You can't get it back.

The pump will do what you tell it to do. Then you do the rest.

Yes it does, just not from meal boluses.

Correction boluses, I believe. It'd be a bit of a downfall if you want to eat and bolus multiple times without stacking insulin.

Heather - I think we have ours set up for a 4 hour duration. And you can do extended boluses, but we haven't gotten that far yet in our training. I think that means you can set it up to do a certain percent right away and then later on, the rest. I could be wrong though - I'm still learning too!

Omnipod can also be "tricked" into calculating IOB for meal boluses too if you want. Just calculate the bolus and then back up and instead give it as if it is a correction dose. I learned that here, and I don't always go to the trouble to do it this way, but it seems like a smart way of handling the shortcoming of the system.

Not lame. And you already answered all your own questions correctly. You set and decide everything. Correct.
