Default CGM site not staying on

The site is not staying on to well. Does any one have any suggestions on what to use? I have used cloth tape but it does not help much. Thanks

Which one are you using?

We use the medtronic and put it on his arm. We put tegaderm over it to hold it in place. We use emla cream first, then I wipe it off and take a wet paper towel and wash the area off. I used to use an alcohol wipe, but thought it might be contributing to dry skin.

Making sure the skin is dry I insert the sensor. I then cut a piece of tegaderm in half. One half I put on his skin where the transmitter will sit, overlapping the sensor tape. This eliminated the skin rash problems we had been having (something I learned here).

The other half of the tape I put over the sensor, keeping clear of the connector prongs.

After I connect the sensor I put a second piece of tegaderm over the transmitter. We keep it on for a week. If he's been in the water a lot the tape doesn't last a full week so I sometimes need to cut some of the lost parts away and overlay it with another piece.

We tried putting on sween cream for a while but while the sensor stuck well, the tegaderm didn't last as long. Since we don't have too much trouble with his skin any more I just put a little bit on after we take the sensor off.

we use Skin tac.

Not the wipe but the bottled stuff, I just take a qtip and get it wet and wipe the area coming off, both the loose adhesive ane the skin and let both dry and then go back and stick it down.

BTW if you use skin tac you will probably also need the adhevise remover.

This is a picture I posted a while back, it shows the tape I use to keep the CGMS site on. I just put a piece under the transmitter (because otherwise it gives me a rash for some reason) and a couple of pieces over it. The tape is silk tape, I bought it here. It's not made for pump / sensor sites, but it sticks to me pretty well and I'm not allergic to it (which I seem to be to pretty much anything else.

Carson uses the Navigator. We use only alcohol wipes under the actual site area. But after the site and transmittor are on, we wipe skin tac around the edges of the tape and skin. Then we put strips of Opsite Flexfix over that to reinforce it. Then Carson sometimes wears and adult sized wrist band over the whole thing to give it a little padding and protection.

Kaylee uses MM minilink.. we don't use any ivprep/skin tac.. shouldn't use that anywhere near where the sensor inserts.. I use a round bandaid or a piece of cloth tape on the underside of the transmitter.. I tape it right to it.. I insert the sensor, and cut one piece of flexifix about a 1/2inch wide, tape down the tip of the sensor.. connect the transmitter, I cut two pieces of flexfix, about a 1inch wide each, I line the tape up right about where the transmitter starts to go in and cover up the right half of the transmitter, making sure that the tape comes down far enough so it attaches to the skin and covers up the end of the transmitter.. I then repeat on the left side, overlapping the tape in the middle.. I leave the area where the transmitter and sensor connect open and free of tape so air can get in.. this stays like this for a good week.. sometimes I do have to change the tape part way through the week.. but we've never had it fall off.

I put in a new sensor and took a few pictures to show what I was talking about.

the sensor with a strip of tape.

The sensor with the transmitter attached. The tape is hard to see, so I uploaded two pictures.. I overlap the tape in the center of the transmitter.. leaving the connection between the sensor and transmitter open with no tape.

In this first one, the angle of the the picture makes it seem like the tape is really tight, its not, its snug, but not overly tight.
