Default After the pump weight gain?

One of the things I'm noticing is that Erin's able to eat more food with the pump. She's pretty active, always running around, jumping and dancing. Still, I'm worried that the extra food will start to put pounds on her.

Did anyone experience weight gain after starting the pump?

Yes...Ryan had lost 8 lbs at Dx. Never gained it back. At 6 months into D, we got the pump. Within 3 months or so, he'd gained over 10 lbs. Endo said it was because he was able to eat more carbs. He didn't want to eat many carbs while on MDI, carbs=shots for him. With the pump, he ate whatever, whenever and was more "normal" The pump was a God send for us. He had gotten to the point of going hungry before he'd eat and get a shot.

My daughter did not gain weight on the pump. She actually gained while on the old humalog/nph/lantus 2 shot a day schedule. She was forced to eat snacks which was something we did not do before dx.

Now, just as she has the freedom to eat without a shot, she also has the freedom to not eat if she doesn't want to--even for exercise we can lower basals.

I guess in my opinion the pump makes it more normal for the kids and whether or not they gain weight is due more to their eating habits than the pump itself.

I don't want to discourage eating because she is growing. We try to eat healthy foods and fattier ones in moderation. We eat a lot less candy now that we're on the pump because we're not having those lows. Usually.

Kaleb has not gained any weight while on the pump and he has been on it over a year.

DN did not gain weight going on the pump at 8 years. Now, she will be a teen soon, and she has just started to gain weight. Still very slender, but not in the 20th percentile anymore, as she has been her entire life. I attribute weight gain to puberty. This is normal. I notice she is hungrier now than she used to be. She will eat more than she used to. But she closely monitors herself, refusing fatty foods now. She is very conscious of her weight and will not allow herself to overeat. No, she is not diabulemic.... I wish I had her discipline.

I think it's the age. Ian just started eating way way better.
I don't think it's the pump, unless the eating habits on MDI were stricter and now are a bit more lax.

Charlie really hadn't grown much in height or weight for about a year before starting to pump. Since January he has gained about 10 pounds and grown around 4 inches in height and 2 shoe sizes.
He is still on the thin side.

What's wrong with gaining weight if they're in line with the growth charts? Kids have to grow and gain weight.

Alex didn't gain much weight after dx - he stayed at 42 pounds for a long time. Once pumping we were able to give more carbs without fear and he's finally gaining some much needed weight.
