Default opinions on a weird situation?

i was on a forum chat with a bunch of friends, when i said I would be right back because i was low, well, one of my friends is apparently hypoglycemic, and she is going around telling everyone that she has a type of diabetes called "low blood sugar diabetes".
Uh, diabetes is classified by the little to none insulin production of the pancreas, in the case of hypoglycemia, the pancreas is producing MORE, correct? that, or the liver doesn't dump out the stored up glucose? do i just let it go and let her tell people she has diabetes, because, i honestly think shes doing it for attention.

I'd probably let it go... my experience with attention seekers is that the more you try to correct them, the more outlandish their stories become... and in the end, it's not worth it.

I agree. Let it go.
As much as you want to correct the person, they just won't change their "perception".
I usually do a lot of invisible eye-rolling for situations like this.
It's annoying, for sure.

Well, at least it's pancreas-related.) (the low blood sugar, I mean (glucagon being made by the pancreas).
Maybe she just wants to have something in common with you or maybe her doc really told her this.
Or maybe she has other conditions you don't know about, and hypos are related to that.

all of those are quite possible, but in just talking to her, apparently she is familiar with both type 1 and type 2, but she knows nothing about her own condition. sorry, but that seems a bit off.

another thing about the situation that i forgot to mention in my first post was that she said "yes, if you gotta have diabetes, its better to have the hypoglycemia kind, its the better of the two!"....
yeah, that irked me. a lot. dunno why.

That irks me also...Of course hypos and hypers happen with type 1 from time to time, it goes with the disease..but if I had to chose which is "better"??? Neither. Some people make comments like that and you just have to wonder "where" they are getting their info from and she needs to be educated more of course..Nothing "better" about low blood sugar when it can cause your child to seize and could lead to coma or death" ..kwim?

Ha Ha!! I suppose with "the hypoglycemia kind" you get to treat with candy instead of a shot! That would be a plus.

I would bet that everyone who knows her knows how she is and that they should take it all with a few grains of salt.

have you met her in real life?
We had a college aged girl on here about 6 months ago who was a complete fake---she had so many of us, me included, worried sick when she supposedly took double lantus and was very low.
Unfortunately there are fakers out there. I really don't understand why someone would create a fake persona online, but they do.
