Hmm, I've never been a germ freak so I guess it doesn't really bug me much.. The reason I ask is b/c..

Some man came up to me tonight after I tasted a grape to see if they were sour or not. This is a practice that many people I know here do to make sure you don't get a bag full of crappy grapes. I always take it off the vine instead of the loose ones. Back to the man..he said never in his life had he seen someone just stand there and eat the food in the store. I guess since this is what we did as I was growing up..people I know do it, I never gave it a thought. I guess I will now....hmm...

ETA..for the record, I taste ONE from the bag..not multiple...

I do. Got tired of paying $3 for a bag of uneatable grapes.

amen..about the inedible grapes. I buy a LOT of fruit and I don't want to pay $$$ for stuff that is too sour. You can't ripen grapes after you buy them..if you can...please let me know how!

No way, we wash EVERY piece of fruit or vegy, even those you peel, with soap and water, you never know where the person who picked or packaged, or placed on the shelf, had his/her hands last!!!! Plus think of the insects traveling and touching!

For example, think of a knife going through and unwashed piece of melon, banana, orange............and all the salmonella passing through!

No, but I look at how the "bunch" looks - are they fresh looking and all in tact and staying snug on the vine. We keep red or purple grapes in our house at all times!
