Page 55 of the manual says that you will get a beep every 15 minutes while the insulin is suspended. You can set it for 30 min up to 2 hours. At the end of the set time, a Pd Advisory alarm occurs. It will say "End of insulin suspended" Press "Ok" to resume basal rate delivery. Insulin delivery will NOT resume until you press OK.

I wanted to look it up because I really didn't know. I know that a couple of times Melissa has realized at the 15 minutes that I didn't resume it, so good to know that she HAS to hit Ok or could go hypo.

Sorry, my mistake. I think we've only forgotten to resume once, and probably turned it back on after the first warning. I rarely suspend for anything.

Just FYI...much easier to set a temp basal to "0" for whatever amount of time you want and the insulin automatically starts up again without you having to remember to do it.

We never use suspend except when changing basal programs. Always temp basal at 0.

Like Daryl said, we only use the suspend for changing basals, so doing a temp basal wouldn't work. I have been doing a lot of that lately, as the new endo suggested that we take her off of Metformin. Starting from scratch again with everything, basals and bolus doses, ughhh. She used about 30% less insulin on the Metformin, but has been on it for years now, so it is a process trying to get things right now.

We have been using Omnipod for just over a year. I apologize because I was likely one of the complainers early on .

It does have a learning curve but we are all very happy with it now. Initially, we used vet wrap, skin prep and extra medipore tape to keep the little suckers on. Now a year later we rarely use anything and the pods stay on fine. Also, there is no question the pods are waterproof because DD is in the water all the time with swim club.

We did have a pile of alarming pods last fall but Insulet replaced the whole shipment overnight. We have never had a static pod failure.

One piece of advice I did get a few months ago was when filling the pod inject the insulin slowly "very slowly"... I must admit I wasn't a believer but since we began doing this we have only had 2 failed pods.

Insulet always replaces our failed pods we just need to call them in. I can't complain about their customer service because they have always been great to us.

Hope you give Omnipod a try and have a positive experience too

Gwynn
