BG can drop a lot between the post-recess check and bus. If you only want to do one of them, I'd do the pre-bus check. (But in reality, I'd do both at first.)

That's true. Definitely at first to see how she reacts to PE. Thankfully it's a short bus ride home.

As for PE basals, I'd go with a wait and see approach, but on those days I would definitely do a pre/post check (and instruct to give snack if needed). At our school PE wasn't very over strenuous that first year. It was a lot of lining up, going over rules and learning to play the games. But, she would drop just from the excitement of doing something different and knowing she was going home. I'd ask the nurse about what the activity level is and go from there. It may be you only need say a 20-30% reduction 30 minutes prior/during PE.

Because my son went to preK, kindergarten was not that much of an adjustment as far as D went. It was also only half day for him...and there was no recess...although they did get to go on the playground from time to time.
My son does not have a CGM...so no advice there. But, the only time we had him checked was (1) before gym or any outside time (2) if before exercise # was low or on the low side, then after exercise as well as decided by me via phone discussion with nurse (3) of course, if he felt low. We rarely if ever did a pre-bus check...maybe if he had been running low for some reason...but not on a regular basis. He was pretty good at feeling his lows, and the bus trip was so short...there was never an issue with it. Plus, if he had a CGM then, I'd feel the pre-bus check to be even less necessary. I'd just ask the teacher to check before putting your child on the bus and then to finger stick if there was an issue. Best advice...relax! Easier said then done ...but after a few weeks, it should be easy! Good luck.
