I've started carrying Quicksticks (http://www.quicksticks.com/), which are 10g each. DS likes them because they're like big pixiesticks
I believe Kroger sells them, or you can get them online. So far I've not had to buy any, just using up free samples I've had.

My son uses the spi belt (he didn't like it for the pump). He keeps a tube of glucose tabs in it and wears it backwards so that it's on his back.

I am coming in several days late on this topic, but I wanted to add that dd started carrying the squeezable applesauce. I hated the leaking juice boxes, too, and these seem to do the trick.
