Soooo, is it time to start discussing the November elections?

Its looking like Mr Romney will be the Republican nominee. Are people happy with this choice? Were you happy with any of the choices if youre republican? Do you think that he has any idea how to turn the economy around and get things going in the right direction?

I honestly have heard nothing from him yet about his plans. He does plan on defunding and eliminating several important programs. Im not sure if this is to give more tax breaks to the rich or to try and get the deficit down but I have my suspicions

I dont think I will be voting for Mr Romney. Im a registered Independent and nothing Ive seen as yet would cause me to vote for this gentleman

I think Mitt Romney is a good candidate. Not perfect, but very good. With the instant news cycle now, the only time we get a 'perfect' candidate is when we don't look very deeply, as we did with Obama.

I will vote for Romney, and encourage everyone to do so. This is a critical election and will decide the path of the country for years to come. Learn the history that you may have not learned in school, read about socialism in Europe and Communism in Russia - they are not good. We don't want to go down that path.

And understand that everything you see on the news or even hear from the source may not be the truth. Question Everything.

I am 100% for Romney. He seems like a good candidate. There is something about every candadite that no one is going to like. I really helped SLC when they had the 2002 olympics and I know he can helkp this country.

Anyone who thinks that either of these candidates is communist or socialist is...ill-informed. They're both centrists, and on the political spectrum are virtually next-door neighbors. Romney had to run to the right to appease the lunatic fringe of the Republican party, but his record is pretty darn liberal and we're going to see him move back toward the middle as November approaches.

Romney was the least of the Republican evils, by far.

I didn't say the person was socialist/communist, but if you look at overall policies there is a definite trend and we'll want to make sure it doesn't come to be. And about being ill-informed, I don't think so, but each day I learn more.

You mean Romneycare? If not, which policies endorsed by which candidate are socialist and which are communist?

Romneycare is VERY different from Obamacare. Remember that the primary argument against Obamacare is that the federal government has no Constitutional foundation on which to force people to buy a product or service. That has been my argument all along.

The same rule does not apply to the states, and it's exactly how I feel about gay marriage (might as well throw that in too.) Gay marriage is a states' rights issue because it is not specifically addressed by the Constitution. Therefore, if a state and its citizens wish to have government-sponsored healthcare or gay marriage, then I have ZERO problem with that. The flip side is that there are states that do not want one or the other, and they should not be forced into it, and their decision to ban gay marriage or not adopt healthcare should be respected.

I don't know much about Romney yet but I am in the "anyone but Obama camp". I grew up in Canada and my family is still there - socialized medicine is very difficult to live with and I don't believe it is the path the U.S. should take.

I became a citizen before the last election specifically to vote against Obama and socialized medicine. My brother is a participant in a medical trial ( heart procedure for patients with atrial fibrilation) - he has had two heart procedures in the last five years yet is still on the waiting list for a cardiologist - he takes blood thinners unmonitored because he has a surgeon but not a cardiologist. When he needs his prescription refilled he sleeps on a cot outside the med-stop overnight so he can be one of the 25 patients they see each day. I don't think people in the U.S. really realize how socialized medicine really works.

Most people in Canada have dentures by the time they are 50 because medical will pay for them to be hospitalized to have all their teeth extracted and many cannot afford regular dental care ($800 for a filing etc).

I think we need to close some of the tax loopholes for the rich but I also think that we need to get the 48% of Americans who pay no tax to participate in the system. We need to create programs that offer assistance but require people to work to get those benefits - right now people don't work because they can't make enough (or as much) as they make on public assistance. We need to help bridge the gap between their wages and the amount they would make on assistance.

Based on tax issues and healthcare concerns I will vote for Romney out of fear of what another 4 years of Obama will cause in damage to this country.

Well y'know, I really have no say in who your president is.

But if I did, I'd be voting Obama, especially after this week.

lol, that's the funniest thing I've read in a while. I'm in my 50's as are many of my friends and I've never heard of anyone doing this, let alone most of us. I'll ask around town this week to see if anyone has heard about this.

I lived in the States for more than a decade and loved it, but having a diabetic child and going through cancer treatment gave me a new appreciatin for our medical system. I'll stick with our "socialist" system any day of the week.
