Well, it sounds really frustrating BUT remember a temp basal can take hours to be effective and if she's high but not spilling large ketones or throwing up then she's not well, but she's not in terrible danger. Honestly, I'd set the alarm clock for 2 hrs from now and crawl into bed with her for the time being
Hopefully she'll start to come down gradually.

She is throwing up. And the ketones are from a pee stick.

At 11:30 she was 397 I gave her more insulin through her pump. I woke her up to check her for ketones and she had a small trace. She had a drink and then threw up. Her numbers have been running high all day, but not like this. I don't know what else to do.
You are assuming the injection did nothing. I am assuming it kept her from going higher.

What you're seeing would be consistent with a pump that is not delivering insulin due to problems with pump, tubing, or site. In that case she would be getting little or no insulin.

If it were my DD I'd go to double her normal basal rates on the pump and I'd be correcting every 2.5 hours by syringe.

What did you check ketones with - a urine strip?

I wish I could, but I have myself a nervous wreck. This has never happened to us before. She has never had a high that wouldn't come down. She doesn't really go high when she is sick either, so I am so confused.

She did throw up at 11:30 when I tested her for the ketones.

She needs more insulin. I would be giving corrections every 2.5 hours by injection.

Arrgghh, I don't know what to tell you on that one. I wish I lived close to you I could set you up with new novalog and lantus. I would definitely call the endo. Could you squeeze some more urine out of her and see if the ketones are still small? My guess is they are larger than they are reading with her throwing up.

I didn't look at it that way. I guess she would be alot higher if the injection did nothing.

When I checked her at 11:30, I gave her the insulin through her pump because I had previously just changed her site and I thought it would be alright. When I check her again, should I take into consideration the IOB or should I assume that she didn't get the insulin and give the full correction.

I hope I am making sense. I have myself so worked up and I'm not sure that I am.
