Does he like hot fudgey stuff? I make a hot fudge pudding cake that is super simple, it makes it's own sauce as it cooks, and I serve it with ice cream or homemade whipped cream!

The wacky cake recipe is one of my favorites too...though I have never heard it called that...my recipe calls it snack cake. I add a little espresso powder (or you can use coffee or espresso) and we frost it with whipped cream (store leftover cake in fridge). It's very dark, and makes me think of oreos.

My 11 year old makes this cake herself.

This is my go-to chocolate cake recipe.
It's one bowl, super simple and tastes amazing - moist but not gooey or too rich.

2 cups sugar
1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup cocoa
1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup boiling water

Directions:1. Heat oven to 350?F. Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans.

2. Stir together sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt in large bowl. Add eggs, milk, oil and vanilla; beat on medium speed of mixer 2 minutes. Stir in boiling water (batter will be thin). Pour batter into prepared pans.

3. Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pans to wire racks. Cool completely.

I make one similar to Becky's recipe and it is always very moist and very easy to make. If you have kid's with food allergies, no eggs or milk -- good for vegans too!

This is my favourite Choc cake recipe. It's actually called Chocolate Square, but is really a cake, and very moist. I love it and use it for birthday cakes all the time. Plus, it's quick and easy.

Chocolate Square

3/4 cup sugar
1/4 lb butter
1 egg
1 cup plain flour
2 dessertsp cocoa
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp Baking Soda
1 tsp Cream of Tartar

Cream butter and sugar, add egg, and beat.
Sift flour, cocoa and Cream of T. Beat.
Then add B soda dissolved in milk, and beat.
Put into greased tin, and bake at 180 C (not sure of conversion sorry) for about 20 - 30 mins..I just bake til it's not really soft in the middle
Ice with Choc icing.

Good luck!

My mom's best chocolate cake (no eggs).

2 cups cake flour
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 cup of cocoa
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup mayonnaise
1 cup cold water
1 tsp. vanilla

9X13 pan, 350 for 30 minutes

Frosting really makes the cake though:

1 1/2 squares of bitter chocolate
6 tablespoons of butter
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons of milk
2 tablespoons of corn syrup
1 1/2 cups of white sugar

Boil the frosting 1 1/2 minutes, cool, beat, the spread (it is like fudge)

Hey, it's not supposed to be health food................
