    Default Becoming a grandparent

When children are born, the hopes and dreams of their parents are also born. A diagnosis of type 1 diabetes can seem to derail those dreams.

On September 1, 2013, after 24 years living with type 1 diabetes, my daughter Marissa realized her dream of becoming a mother, making Brenda and I grandparents. Marissa, her baby boy, and husband Adam are doing well.

It's a great thing to be a grandparent.

And it's a great thing to pursue your dreams.
