Honestly, I don't carb count meatballs. Yes there are breadcrumbs & milk in them but with Cameron, such a small bit doesn't seem to affect him. But he's also 11. YDMV....

When we were at the hospital with ds after dx, we specifically asked the dietician about meatballs. She told us the amount of bread and milk mixed into the meat was so tiny it probably wasn't worth counting. I also sometimes use this site to figure out carbs in recipes:

Well considering her I:C is 1:60 I didn't think I should be worries but considering she just put away 6 out of the 24 the recipe made I think I might need to dose

Awesome thanks so much mama's I've been getting carb counts worked out for most of my recipes but totally spaced. I don't have the intuition or even a general idea of what the carb content is in most food yet as we've only been correcting until now since her food intake was so little. Thanks again you guys are a lifesaver

I consider meatballs free unless he downs 6 large ones which come to 1/2 carb in total (which he regularly does LOL).

Even if she ate all 24, with a 1:60 ratio you are only looking at .3 of a unit of insulin, (assuming 1/4 cup of breadcrumbs is about 15 carbs, and 1/4 cup milk is about 3 carbs)

For my homemade recipes, I go ahead and count the carbs for total ingrediants and then figure how many total servings it makes and divide the total carbs by that number. Meatballs are usually pretty low per meatball.

Don't worry -- in time this will be such second nature that you will be counting carbs on your OWN meals, lol!!
