Thread: Schmengies! How many carbs in smarties?

Default Schmengies! How many carbs in smarties?

How many carbs are in a roll of smarties? I thought there were six. As a treat I gave a roll to Boz after dinner and had bolused to cover the additional 6 carbs. Never-the-less, 2 hours pp we're at 438.

There goes the A1C... we have to have that drawn next week. Gall-dang-it.

    Help.

I found a couple of different figures. One said that one ounce was 20 grams, and the other said that the "fun-size" roll was 8 grams.

I have exactly the same issue! It's the amount of sugar in it. I find that even if I cover him for it, any snack with a high sugar amount no matter how little the carbs, will push him up dramatically. It happens with milk, pez candy(1 carb per candy!) etc. I try to stick with no more than a 50-70% sugar ratio unless he's low if I can.

we use them to treat lows, leftovers from halloween, 6 carbs I think. Amazing how I memorize random carbs now.

Well. I know they're best used for lows. Boz has never had smarties before though... he's just getting the point that he can use his teeth and not choke on stuff that's harder like that. I don't give him that many treats, so thought he'd really like it. He did... but it completely blew his BG.

Awww, I'm sorry they were such a problem for you. Matt uses them for lows and like the others already said, one roll is 6 gms.
