Welcome to the board - sorry you had to find us.I just wanted to say hello because we are neighbors - I live in Federal Way (my aunt and uncle live in Lake Stevens) Madison was able to go on the pump 5 months after dx. It's going to be something you have to talk your endo into because most of them require a 1 year waiting period - sounds crazy, I know. I think we badgered our endo and got the ball rolling with omnipod before we even got permission from the dr. She had never had a patient with the pod, so was reluctant. Please let me know if you have any questions about the pod (the best pump around:)) or just general questions. We were where you are now and definitely know how you feel and what you are going through. You'll probably hear this a lot, but things really do get easier and diabetes just becomes your new normal.

--we also went on a cruise a few months after the pump and the heat was not an issue at all. And eating all day long was a breeze with the pump.
