Hi Deb! Sorry it took me so long to get back to you! We're doing fine here. School is going great. We had our 504 meeting last week, and were so happy. It's almost embarassing how easy the school is to work with - I feel sorry for some of the folks on here. I honestly think if I told the school that I was bringing a throne in for Jack to sit on and they had to only address him as "your majesty" they'd do it!

Yes, travelling is always an adventure with D. I'm always paranoid that we'll be the ones stuck on the tarmac for 8 hours with no food or drink. Ugh. I hope your trip goes smoothly and that you and the kiddos have tons of fun! :)

Hey Deb! I bet your numbers fell through the cracks. I think he was on vacation around that time, and I wonder if they just got missed somehow. We do all of our own adjustments now, but back when we faxed numbers, we usually got a call the same day (if I faxed in the morning) or the next (if I faxed in the afternoon). I did call them a few months ago when Jack had moderate to large ketones. I called in the morning and they didn't call back until the afternoon. I was mildly peevish about that, but we had cleared the ketones in the meantime, so everything ended up okay.

Thanks for the reply - we live in Durand. Grace was dx the day before halloween. She came home from school w/a stomachache and then as soon as she got home ate and ate. My husband and I both noticed she was peeing more. I was a nurse, and my husband parents are both type 2 so i had glucostix at home (how sick is that) so I dipped her urine and away we went!!! Sometimes I think I have somewhat of an advantage being a nurse, although I was not a peds nurse, other times I think there is so much to learn!!! We knew Dr. Carrion before, i have a 13 y.o.son who saw him for growth issues, but didn't know Molly and we love her -GRace thinks she is the best!!! Do you have a son w/type 1? How old is your child and how are theydoing with all this? Grace is doing pretty well - she decided on Monday that she was going to give herself her injections and check her sugars!

Hi Deb! We actually live about 10 minutes east of Rockford - just north of Belvidere. We too are patients of Dr. Carrion, as is at least one other member on this board who lives in DeKalb.

How are you and your daughter doing? It is so very, very hard at first. All I can tell you is that we are a year into this now, and it really does get better.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I'm not expert, but I am a good listener!
