I never know what to say but know that I read your threads -- I am impressed by the people who do dramatic heroics, but totally unable to comprehend the kind of heroism that it takes to take one step after another without breaking. Please don't be offended, I know you do what you have to do for your baby, I know that. But the way you do it -- not everyone could. Not most of us could. I use your example every day to try to be a better person, I'm sure plenty here do. My prayers and thoughts are with Morgan, poor baby is clearly so surrounded by love. I'm glad you get to go home, I hope you guys have peaceful, pleasant, loving days with no complications.

Was just reading in the forums and saw that you were from IA. What part, if I may ask? I live in Sioux City.

Gosh, I'm sorry if you feel you don't fit in, when I first started I assumed you were one of the veterans!
In many ways you are in a fairly unique position. I would hope this makes you feel like you belong in many and very different groups, but I can see how it could feel otherwise. You've definitely chosen the road less traveled -- I'm better off for you letting me walk down it a bit with you, and I think others here feel the same.

Your picture speaks to a lot of people, as do your posts. I hope you didn't really have a fear that folks thought you were not genuine. I guess I can see that if you thought one of the "clues" was a lot of crises or tragedies in the poster's life you might set off alarms, but I have never read any of your posts and thought of them as being about a crisis or a tragedy. Which is funny, considering all the difficulties you have been through, but I never felt like you considered them anything but part of life, so I guess I didn't, either.

Didn't know you guys were even considering the pump. Best of luck on that!

Every time I see you post I see your tag line ("deny the verdict") and wanted to tell you that's a great line for all of us to read. Really an attitude I want to have in all situations. Thanks.

P.S. All morning at work I was thinking that my last paragraph in the previous comment was stupid. You can't really participate in Special Olympics without receptive language skills, he doesn't need compicated transfers if he can walk with a walker. Sorry.

      Happy Birthday!!! :D

After these months of seeing your signature, I looked up trisomy 18 and I saw your story on that website, and then I went and looked at the Caringbridge website. Wow! You and Morgan and the rest of your family have been through a lot. It's cool that Morgan's teacher is willing to handle his diabetes. Does Morgan have receptive language skills?
I also want to say Happy Birthday!
and finish by pointing out that I posted a month or so ago that I'd be interested in staying at some forum member's house in December (or, actually, April-May) and do some meeting people and babysitting, and that if your family was interested in hosting me for a few days in return for me hanging out with Morgan, I would be interested in doing that. You would have to pick me up from the Amtrak station in Des Moines.
In terms of experience with special needs children, I'm comfortable being a friend, and I've worked with trying to teach PECs use, and I'm definitely comfortable with diabetes, however I haven't had to, say, do transfers for people in wheelchairs, or change the diaper of someone over the age of three, so I could probably use some training in those areas.

We have the same birthday! (Different year, though)
