Hi, I have just read your heart breaking diagnosis story and had a jolly good weep. I just wanted to comment on one bit, the bit about breast feeding and wondering if you stopped too soon. I too have five children and I have breast fed them all. My diabetic two year old was breast fed exclusively of other milk until 12 months when I added cows milk to his diet (tried to introduce pureed vegetable at six months but he had reflux so it was all a huge battle) Anyway I didn't stop feeding him til just before his diagnosis and I think he only stopped because he felt so poorly. Thing is I feel guilty that breastfeeding him for so long might have had something to do with his diabetes! We really cannot win, can we? Congratulations on your big family. Hard work but wouldn't change a thing.
