We would like a cgm for Adin sometime during 2008. If Dexcom is expanding their calibrating to work with all meters (flash for us) then that will be the one we choose.

My question is this. Adin is small, I am doing everything I can to keep rotating sites between his behind and legs. I don't know if we have enough real estate so to speak to add another site. How is the two sites working for you? I don't imagine Adin being able to have a site on his tummy or arm anytime soon. So as things are now I can't see adding another thing on him without it being a real struggle.

Honastly, Ididn't know what we'd do with Kaylee's second site.. she uses the minilink.. the Minilink gets the 'real estate' (LOL) on her bum and the pump site gets the tummy, legs and arms.. at some point I'd really like to try an arm site for the ml.. but not sure how that will work.. she's 39lbs.. doesn't have much meat on her.. right now the bum is working well for the ml.. I don't knwo much about the dexcom, how big the sites are and such.. but I wouldn't image that you would be able to get a pod on Adin's arm, but you might be surprised at what you can do with his belly, when Kaylee started pumping she wasn't even 30lbs yet (at almost 3.5 years) had NO fat on her and we started with belly sites.. she did great.. we use the quicksets, which are 6mm and at 90degrees.. eventually we'll try the ML in her belly but for now.. We will stick with the bum.. I no longer do pump sites in the bum, I save that just for the ML.. we get about 9 days out of each sensor (hoping for more this time ) so by the time the sensor quits on me I just go to the other cheek..:)

Do you have any type of reaction on the bum with the minilink?

I ask because the pod rubs on Adin's bum region and it takes awhile to heal. Not only the infusion site but above on a bone where the pod must rub. As well as the infusion site, it takes much longer to heal on the bum than his leg.

We have not decided either way as far as which cgm to get. But if Dexcom opens calibration up to the Frestyle Flash, we would prefer to streamline things.

As always thanks for your opinon.:)

We use the bum for the minilink and the belly for sites. We don't get any reactions at all. I put gauze under the transmitter and a piece of gauze over the entire site before I cover it. It does get red, but it heals pretty quickly. The worst part is the area where the needle went in to insert the sensor. That takes a little longer to heal. If I had to change it every 3 days I would of run out of real estate long ago. We seem to get the minimum of 1 week on each sensor, which gives lots of time for healing.

We love the sensor. I don't know what I would do without it. We have been able to get her A1c down to 6.0!:D I am thrilled. Gotta keep her healthy for when the cure comes!!:D

We are using arms right now for the minilink and loving it! There is no irritation and they heal much faster than the bottom sites do for us. I wasn't sure if we could get that needle in her little arm but it worked great!
We have always rotated from thighs to bottom for both sites and her skin was starting to show some abuse, (but it has been an entire year). After only 2 weeks of using her arms for the sensor her bottom and legs are looking great. I'll continue to rotate through all the locations now.
I have never had luck with stomach sites for the pump, so I'm not going to try the ML there anytime soon.

Good Luck!

Thanks everyone. We have an appointment in January and I will discuss it with our Endo.

Has anyone heard an update on the parent monitor Medtronic is releasing? I woke up this morning with thoughts of it.
