Hi everyone, we're back! I have a question. I put a new sensor on Hannah yesterday (our new transmitter from Minimed is working now!) However ,I have had some numbers that aren't even close from the tester and from the sensor.

For example:
This morning she was 117 when tested her finger, but her sensor said 374.
They I did a calibration at 9:30 and it was running good until 2pm. Then she was 143 when I tested her finger and her sensor said 82. Then agin, we had a few good hours and even one test that was dead on! Then at 8:15 I tested her and she was 304 by finger (a cookie she had at Awana and didn't get carbed for!) and her sensor said 202.

Is it common for a sensor to be so off like that during the day? If not, do I just need to calibrate more often during the day or what do I need to do to keep the numbers close?

Otherwise, all else is going well, no more sensor errors or lost sensors, or any other problems! I'm so glad I hung in there!

When you look at the graph when the numbers are off is she rising or falling? Remeber the lag time and take that into account. I watch the graph just as much if not more than I do the actual number. I would not calibrate more often, just be really careful about calibrating when she is stable.

Sometimes it just gets off, that is why we verify with a finger poke :o

I am so glad it is working better for you now :D

my guess is the lag.. that she was moving quickly, like after the cookie.. and the sensor hadn't caught up yet.. there are times that we get that too..it seems odd, but once you look at it on the graph, it make perfect sense:)

we were actually told not to calibrate to much because its to 'much' info for the sensor.. you have more room for error and bad calibrations.. it takes 3 good calibrations to get rid of one bad one..

Thanks for your help. I have only been calibrating 3 times a day, so I am glad I stuck to that. I haven't done a graph yet on the computer but will do one when I hit day 7. My doctor and my minimed rep will help me go over it, since I have never really seen the charts.
We also have a doctor appointment next week, so I am excited to see if her A1C has come down yet. She has had really good numbers, even with not using the sensor very much.) Keep my fingers crossed!!!
