I have always been using my stomach for the sensors but decided to try my arm.
It hurt going in and 24 hours later, it still hurts to the touch!
Any ideas why?
Maura
Also my last 3 sensors, I bleed alot. Why?

Did you back off on the angle just a little bit? I roll the inserter back just a hair when inserting in Hailey's arm. I would pull it and try the other arm making sure to roll the serter back just a bit.

As for the bleeding, we have found that the "bleeders" end up lasting the longest and being the most accurate.

Thanks Nicole

So are you saying that I shouldn't place the feet down on my arm?

Yes, we also roll the inserter back a bit. I don't think Nicole pinches the skin, but I do pinch the skin up as I insert. Ironically, we have not had any blood from the arms.

You definatly want the feet on your arm. Hmm, trying to come up with a visual. Think of it as the feet as actual feet and you just put the wieght on the heels instead of the entire foot. Does that make sense?

I do the pinch-up method too, just to get at enough skin. My guy is little (and seems to have lost his arm pudge since the last sensor insertion) so I noticed that I had the feet straddling the pinched up area. Does that make sense.

What do you think? Should I quit the day job and start in as a medical device illustrator?

Also, random note to self (and others): do not start a sensor insertion when your child has hiccups. It was a sensor with a sticky needle. I got the sensor in just fine but then had work on getting the needle out between hicks.
