As adults with type 1 do you all find that you are getting colds, viruses, or any kind of infection easier than you did before D?
I myself have another sinus infection, I had one a few months ago and I usually don't get this type of infection easily or at least I didn't in the past..Now I think I may have a UTI infection..
Before D I was healthy as an Ox.. now..Forget it..
I know with Kelton he gets everything under the sun since he was dx'd but not before..

It is the opposite for me. In the years before I was diagnosed, in elementary and middle school I got EVERYTHING. Every passing cold, every pink eye, stomach virus and strep throat. At the hospital during my diagnosis, I developed a very nasty case of thrush, a yeast infection and a sinus infection. (Having really high sugars for that length of time really opened me up for all kinds of cruddy infections and being in the hospital didn't help.) After my diagnosis, however, I very rarely ever got THAT sick. I could count on a mild cold every winter, but I went for nearly six years after diagnosis before I even got a stomach virus. I'd not had any serious illness until last year when I got the flu, and had to go and get fluids at the ER. My 5 year old son has started to bring colds and viruses home with him now, but even with that, I usually don't get them as bad as what my non-D husband does.

Nah, I think that the undetected high blood sugar I used to have probably gave me lots of colds. I have a lot of aches and pains and memory problems but not infections.

I don't think I get stuff easier. We shall see, though, this will be my first winter w/type 1. But, I woke up this morning with PINK EYE!! I got it very very badly in January for the first time, and now I have it again. And I've been the only one in my family with it. Go figure. Thank goodness my eye drops from January don't expire until next year. And that I was able to FIND them !!
I did have a mild cold last week and really noticed it in my sugar levels. Much higher than normal.

I guess I am weird then..I never used to get sick at all before now..And here I am finding myself getting something more often..It may be because of all my lows?
I started a new job at a new company in 2005. I'm still there, but the stress of starting this new job really did a number on me at the time. My immunity was that of a 95-yr-old: colds, ear infections, pink eye, strep throat, and stomach flu. I was sick for 4 months straight!
Stress makes you more prone to anything. IMHO Since then, I haven't been sick at all. Even when my co-workers (and family members) are battling colds, flu, etc.

I have not been sick in my 2yrs with "D"...until sleep deprivation from Maddison's diagnosis caught up with me. So now since Oct I have had two colds, numerous headaches and lots of bad feeling days. :( I think I am still alot healthier now though, thanks to the guilt induced workout routine. :D

I almost never get sick. Malaria could run through my house followed by polio, English Sweating Sickness, and Ebola and I'd be the only one that didn't get it.

I find I don't get sick as often as my non-D friends, or family members. But when I DO get sick I get REALLY sick and have a hard time kicking whatever it may be, but it's rare and right now I can't even remember the last time I had a cold.
