Olivia's A1C was 6.6. Do you consider this good? This is the 1st A1c since dx that is a true 3 months. Before that it included high periods where her bs were high. She is still in the honeymoon phase, but I thought this was pretty good. What do you all think?

Actually...that is very low. Does she usually have low numbers? The range is supposed to be around 7.0 or so...and I am 7.1. I don't know if it is good or bad for you.

That is fantastic and typical in the honeymoon phase.
Keep up the good work in controlling her BG numbers!
Don't fret if you see higher numbers as her D progresses out of honeymoon.

It's a GREAT number! You have done a superb job with your diabetes care - pat on the back!
Some endo's will suggest that you run your child a bit higher as they fear in order to have "tighter" control - you will have more dangerous lows. Some would say that to have such a low A1c in a child - you must be having a lot of undetected lows. Keep in mind that the A1c is an average for a 3 month time frame, so there are numbers higher and lower to achieve it.
As long as you are monitoring your child closely - a lower A1c can be safe. The ADA guidelines for adults are 7 and below - there are no set pediatric guidelines that I am aware of.
Our child for the past 6 mths has had a 6.8 & 6.5 - our endo feels comfortable with this and feels we are doing an excellent job. Note - we also have a CGM - which is an added safety measure IMO. The endo was able to pull up reports to help support that while we have decreased our A1c, we have not increased his lows.

An A1C of 6.6 means an average BG of 158! That's great!! :) Here's the link to the chart for future reference......

Our first one after dx was 6.7 and everyone praised both J and us to high heaven...so I would say...yup, its good! :D
