No more NPH. :) We have graduated to Lantus/Humalog pen. They gave us a pen there and she is faxing over another prescription for the rest of the supplies. His A1C was 7.1. It was 6.1 last time but I think he had too many lows. Everything else went well. We will be doing this regime until April and they will order our pump. She said that Christian will be in the hospital for a couple of days for pump training with 2 other kids. They do 3 at a time. Now to decide on which pump.
I will take any recommendations you guys have.:D

sounds great!
I don't really understand the hospitalization for pump starts - but I know it's not unheard of....but still, there's really no big nead for it.
Everyone who has a pump likes whatever pump they have - there's no right or wrong. You have to pick the one that christian likes and that you like. They're all good pumps.

That's WONDERFUL news! Lantus, a pump start date, and an awesome A1C all in one day! You should be dancing on the table! :D
In the end, all pumps do the same great things. It becomes a personal choice for each person or family.
We're MM users, and were very happy with our choice.

Christian is so excited, he hugged me at the dr's office. He is happy that he isn't going to be on a rigid schedule any more. I don't understand the staying in the hospital either but I think I will be nervous the first couple of days anyway.:cwds:

You'll have to keep us posted as to what the hospital start is like. Seems like very few do it that way, but hey, whatever works. And if you can nab a good night's sleep in the process, more power to you! :D
We loved switching to the Lantus, and loved the pump even more. It felt like we were finally able to live our lives the way we wanted. I particularily hated the forced breakfast time for weekend lazy mornings...
Both boys are on the Minimed (the one that hooks up to the CGMS, i forget which model #).
I agree with other posters -- all are good, it's a personal choice. You may want to consider if you want to add a CGMS and which is easier to do that with...

I was telling our endo about everyone's thoughts on NPH. He said that he was going to think about changing it. He said that it is actually easier for people to understand the regimen. He then changes it as the kids need it. I told him I didn't mind but that I am glad to be of NPH now that I understand more what I am doing.
