I tested Devin and myself with the Accu-Chek aviva just to see how I like it.
I then tested both of us on his Ascensia contour. And with both of us there was a 10 point difference in reading. Anyone else have this happen?

Don't panic. Small variations are quite common, and the variance can get bigger the higher your BG reading is.
We use One-Touch Ultra, but I know with that there is at least a 10% acceptable variance...meaning that if it shows a reading of 100, you could actually be anywhere from 90-110. I think the acceptable varience might even be as high as 20% (meaning anywhere from 80-120). Doesn't make too much of a difference in the low numbers, but for numbers in the 200-300+, it can be huge!

Did you get both meters calibrated? Whenever we get a new meter, my wife goes and gets blood drawn and the meter calibrated. We've found a couple of meters that were not correct so we don't use them. Also, I think the error margin is 10-15% before a meter is considered incorrect. So if one is high and the other is low, you can easily get a 20+% error between the two meters.
We've even seen different readings on the same meter using repeated tests.
