I am creating a book about the lives of real people with diabetes. It is more of a readable version of a day camp where I am a counselor. I am seeking submissions (and suggestions on how to get more submissions) for a series of books that will give the newly diagnosed, their parents, or newly diagnosed type 1 adults the ability to see that they are not alone.
If you'd like your story included, please email me or post a reply here. Think in terms of your day to day existence with this disease. For example, I have type 1 and have been living with it for 26 years. I have travelled to Europe, moved across the country, am active, went away to college etc. Tell me about your history with your disease or your child's disease. Can share recipes or anything else that might be nice to read if all of a sudden you or a loved on are faced with Diabetes type 1.
All submissions will be credited in full. If you know of a publisher or want to collaborate more than just sending in your personal story, I'm totally up for that as well. I have some contacts with ADA in LA and with local hospitals in Los Angeles and would love for this book to be something that a doctor gives their patients as well as something to be bought in a store.
All comments welcomed and appreciated!
