I pulled Kaylee's sensor because I was getting cal errors.. said K was in the 80 but really upper 100s lower 200s.. when I pulled the sensor she's got a read rash underneith from it being on her skin.. she cried more taking the bandaid off and the IV3000 than anything else LOL.. but that area is really irritated with a rash.. the actual site looks good.. but what do I put on the rash? I'm going to neosporin all over too..

Once and a while we get that and I make sure to put triple antibiotic on it and leave it open to air. Most of the time it is gone by the next morning. I think this happens when the area stays moist under the sensor, some people will put a little bit of gauze under the transmitter to help prevent moisture build up. So far we only have that happen every 3 or 4 sensors and it is never really bad.

We had a rash early on and have used gauze since and haven't had another rash.

Sure did :D The other tapes we tried did not allow the sesnor to breath at all. We do occasionally get the rash but I think it has more to do with my haste in not letting the underneath get completely dry when we do get water under (for example swimming or a long soak in the tub)

We found the IV3000 and other tapes that do not breathe also didn't do well on Hannah's skin and stuck to her like glue. We did find one that has worked great. Stayed on 7 days and came off really easily. Find one that has holes to breathe!

the sensor didn't have iv3000 over it.. it had a very large bandaid over it.. the rep's daughter uses a regular bandaid.. this did NOT work for Kaylee, fell right off.. but the larger bandaid did (those that are used for knee's.. the extra extra large ones..) it works well holding the sensor inplace and there is no residue left on the transmitter.. maybe I'll put a bit of gauze underneith it tonight..

I'm getting flexifix with my next aplus order:)

Is the rash underneath the transmitter or the sensor? We were getting a rash underneath the transmitter from friction I assumed. We cut a small piece of IV3000 and put the sensor in first, then small piece of tape where the transmitter would be going, then connected the transmitter, then IV300 over the entire thing. This has worked like a charm for us and no more friction, no more rash!

the rash is under the transmitter, not the sensor.. and every where the iv3000 touched her skin.. I put a piece of gauze under the transmitter, iv3000 the sensor part, up to the connector.. and then bandaided the other part.. I may just have to IV3000 the entire thing BUT I'm concerned about day 6 when I charge the transmitter.. moving the sensor to much getting the iv3000 off..

Is the rash where the IV300 stuck to the skin? If so you may need to use a different tape and definatly use some sort of barrier wipe.

the biggest rash was underneith the transmitter itself (I think she was probably sweating and that created the rash??) and then under the bandaid sticky part and under the IV3000..

We have been using paper tape and like it very much. It was recommended when we had a reaction to the Tegaderm. It goes on and then as the body warms up the tape sticks well to the skin. It stays on through showers and swimming as well. It's also more reasonably priced than a lot of the other tapes. Most pharmacies carry it.

The rash under the transmitter is from friction - you'll have to put something underneath it to help protect her skin from the rubbing - I would also suggest a barrier wipe for underneath the adhesives..

We tried to use gauze underneath the transmitter - not sure how that is supposed to work?? It got wet in baths, was a big soggy mess. Do people just keep changing out the gauze?
