Ok, tomorrow afternoon is going to be day 3 on the sensor. I plan on getting to day 6 if I can.... the rep said the transmitter stays happy when its fully recharged, and its better to recharge every three days even if you area going 6 days on the same sensor.. so how do I go about this? we are going to a family thanksgiving at noon.. we started the sensor at 1:30..do we need to wait till then? or can recharge before then? do I just unhook it, recharge hook it back in and hit new sensor.. what for it to tell me to calibrate? I'm really happy with the way its going now.. kaylee skin looks good.. and she's not complaining at all.. so I'd like to definitely go to 6 days.. just not sure how to go about it..

thanks!:cwds:

The recharge on day 4 may be better for the life of the sensor ... but I'd say leaving it on (no disconnect, no recharge, no re-tape) is better for your family, particularly on an already crazy day.

If you just do a Start New Sensor at a time when it is good to calibrate (maybe in the morning before all the hoopla begins), then within about 10 minutes you should get a Meter BG message. Do the calibration and you can continue on with your merry turkey laden day!

FYI, if you do do the full disconnect and re-charge, you'll have a 2 hour warm up period. So I try to plan the recharge before a 2 hour window when 1) I don't mind not having data, and 2) when it should be stable enough for a calibration at the end.

Glad you are on to a Day 4-er already! Woohoo!

We NEVER disconnect until day 7 and have never had a problem doing it that way. I hear alot of people having trouble getting the sensor to restart after recharging because you tend to move the sensor when removing the tape. On day 3 we just "start new sensor" and on day 6 same thing. We do not charge it until the forced charge on day 7.

hi kim,
i agree, i wouldn't try disconnecting and recharging. just go to sensor, start new sensor and it will ask you for a BG within 5 minutes. it will say 2 hours, but within 5 minutes it will beep to tell you it is ready. try to do it when you see she is stable, before the end of day 3. we do this every time and have gotten to day 7 on just about every one. we havent tried disconnecting and reconnecting yet on day 7, she is just way too squirmy for that. good luck, glad it is working so well!

the rep said it keeps the transmitter happier if you recharge it for the 20minutes on day 3 than waiting for a full recharge at day 7...since we pay out of pocket I'd like to keep the transmitter as happy as possible ;) Do I have to wait for it to ask for a new sensor, or can I disconnect her right now (before all the hoopla starts) and recharge it while I"m changing her pump site? I'd like to get into a routine of changing the pump site every three days with recharging the minilink on day 3, but changing it out on day 6 (or maybe 9.. I think I'm to afraid to go furthar than that!)

hey kim
are you sure you want to try to do that today? with as accurate as your sensor has been, you might want to try to keep it going by just hitting new sensor, without disconnecting the transmitter. i understand you wanting to do everything right, especially since you are paying out of pocket, but i have never heard that about recharging on day 3, and with it being thanksgiving and crazy eating, you might want to just keep going. we have never tried to disconnect and reconnect, but i heard you have to keep really still or else the sensor will move and then either not work or be inaccurate. maybe just let it go today and then disconnect on day 3 the next time?

Don't disconnect until you have to! You are paying for sensors too. I would bet that if you disconnect you will not make it to day 6...and I'm not a betting woman. Just from my experience, I can have a great sensor, unplug it and within a day it is acting up and gets pulled. I don't recharge until I have to disconnect on day 7.

We always try to re-charge the transmitter on day 6 or 7 but....the darn sensor almost always comes out. So then we just go with a new sensor after re-charging. T is such a wiggle-worm....

I have never heardy anyone say to recharge on day 3, mostly day 7 and a few day 14. We have had the same sensor since May and are still going strong.

I didn't end up charging the sensor because as timing would have it, we were smack dab in the middle of turkey dinner when it ended.. figures.. so I just went to sensor start and it asked me in about 5minutes for a BG.. we knew her BG wasn't going to be as accurate because she was in the middle of eating.. but surprisingly.. the sensor ended at 200 and she was 194.. the it said it had a 3 hour start.. what was this? so I was worried I forgot something or broke it LOL.. but about 10minutes later I had the graph again.. I love this thing.. I may try and go for 9 days.. although the rep didn't recommend more than the 6.. but I'm having such good luck with this one I'm afraid to change it out LOL..

Oh Nicole, I really really hope that it is not the sensor that has been in since May!

.. the it said it had a 3 hour start.. what was this?

It took me awhile to figure that one out too ... I think MM should change how they display that.

It is two separate statements ... "3 hour" describes which screen you are on (as opposed to the "24 hour") and the "Start" notes that there has been a sensor start/restart and you are in the 2-hour warm up period.

Glad it is still going well for you!
