With all there is to hate (and there's a lot) there are many things related to my son's D to be thankful for. I'm sure the rest of you will probably make me realize a couple I have not even thought of. Let me start with:
,,,,,,an employer that understands, not necessarily D, but that family comes first.

I am thankful for...
The technology and information available today as opposed to say 20 years ago even. It doesnt cure it but it makes us able to cope better.
The love of my brother and his wife, who are always there when I need them.
The strength that keeps me going everyday.

I am thankful to Jeff for creating a place that has brought all of us together to support, listen, vent without criticism and to share our love of our special children with eachother.
I am thankful for a job that understands that kids come first.
My oldest son who has been so understanding during these last 9 months and not complaining once.

I am thankful for all the people that have been so kind and sincerely caring to us..including everyone on this site!
And a special thanks to Grandma who now buys every flavor of glucose tabs for Samantha, looks for 15 calorie snacks, counts carbs and is just there for us..as is my whole family!

... my daughter, D and all. She is who she is in part due to what she has experienced living with D. She would still be creative and funny and smart without D, but the D showed her that she was also strong beyond measure and she could easily clear any hurdle that life throws at her. Most people don't figure that out until they are adults.
... my husband. He is the best support any woman could ask for. I am truly blessed to have found him.
... my friends. They may not always say the right things, but they care and they have helped me to turn off my brain and thinka bout things other than D from time to time.
... knitting. It is my yoga. Without it I probably would have already had a massive MI.
... CWD and all its lovely people. You guys have helped me more than you will ever know.:cwds:
I am thankful for my friends and family!
Also for this site and the knowledgeable people here.:cwds:

There are so many things that I have to be thankful for but I would have to say that the thing I am most thankful for is life itself and the opportunity to grow and learn from the things we have had to go through as a family. Each one of my three children have had to deal with life events that has brought on all those feelings of hurt, anger, hate, fear, and the many questions of why. Two of them, we have had to sit in hospitals and hope and pray they would make it through. All three of my children are alive today and even though they/we still on occasion deal with those same feelings and ask why,
we can look back and say THANK YOU, not for those events but for the person each one is becoming through learning to deal with what life has brought them.

...my daughter who amazes me each and every day - D and non-d related.
...my son who has the most glorious smile (and may he start to realize that mommy doesn't want to necessarily see it at 3 AM ;))
...my husband who does so much for the kids and for me
...my family and friends who support us from close by and far away.
...this site and the knowledge, support and compassion we have received from "strangers".
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

of course I am thankful beyond words for all the advancements that allow us to keep our kids alive until a cure is found....
but on a greedy level..
I am thankful for JDRFs prize selection. I just got the catalog in the mail to order our prize from our walk. They have some awesome choices ( coffe maker, tv/dvd combo, dvd-r, etc). There isnt really anything in it for a 6 yr old girl, but there is a PSP. Santa was planning to bring my son one this year..so THANKYOU JDRF!!!
I feel guilty not getting something for Jess from it, but I will take a $100 that we wont be spending towards the psp now and let her pick something out.

I'm thankful for having 2 boys that make me smile, make me laugh and make me proud.
I'm thankful for my parents because even though they had their problems and divorced, they still raised 4 sons that not only get along with each other but have a lot of fun together.
Most importantly I'm thankful for my wife who's my best friend, partner and soul mate.

I am thankful for my two great kids and my great husband. I am thankful that I found this place when my world was crashing down all around me. I am thankful that my daughter lives in this time verses 30 years ago. I am thankful that we made it this year with nothing bad happening. No sicknesses, hospital visits, etc...I am thankful my uncle is finally back from Iraq and is with us this Thanksgiving. I am thankful for my family who is such a great support system for us. My mom goes with me on every single doctors visits and does just as much d care as I do. When Haley was dx'd earlier this year I do not know if I could have found one thing to be greatful for. Things do get easier and now I am thankful for more than I was before d!! Oh, I am very thankful for pumps!!! We got ours today!!!!!:D

In addition to thankfullness for my husband and wonderful kids, I am forever grateful for the amazing, wonderful, awesome care we have received from AI Dupont Children's Hospital in Wilmington DE. The staff (especially in Endocrinology) are simply awesome. :)
