we don't know any more, in fact, we know even less, after having a HSG test done today (where they shoot dye into my cervix and see if it comes out the end of my tubes).

Nothing came out my tubes. Dr has NO idea how I got pg in the first place!

This is aggravating, I was just wanting some direction as to what to do next, now I have absolutely no idea...

I had this same test years ago because I was having trouble getting pregnant. It turned out both tubes were blocked due to endometriosis and Pelvic Inflammatory Disease. After this test was done my gynecologist referred me to a fertility specialist who did a work up on me and i underwent laparoscopic surgery to remove the endo and unblock my tubes. He couldnt do this type of surgery. During the surgery they redid the dye test and the dye moved freely through the tubes. It was still unknown at that point as to whether my tubes were functioning or not. One of my tubes was hydrosalpinx and damaged at the end. I had a lot of hope after this and we tried for a while more with no luck, 6 months later underwent a 2nd lap surgery to see what was going on and he removed more endometriosis which had come back. 6 months later we moved onto IVF as we werent having any luck and we were successful on our first try. About 15 months after my daughter was born I was sick and couldnt figure out why. I took a test and was pregnant naturally. It sure was nice to know that the 2 surgeries I underwent werent a waste as we were not expecting to get pregnant. The doctors unfortunately do not know everything. If you are having trouble getting pregnant your next step would be to a fertility specialist. The surgery isnt a guarantee that your tubes will be functioning as it depends on the extent of damage but you would at least have a chance.

thank you Ginger, I'm glad to read your story, but mine is a little different. I had my tubes tied in March of 04, and found out last month I was pg. We confirmed it with blood tests and U/S, which spotted a gestational sac in my uterus, but my hormone levels never got high enough to see whether the baby implanted in my uterus or in a tube, so we treated as if it were tubal since my levels dropped by the 3rd week after my + test.

So, I know why my tubes are blocked, and my options right now are very limited. I'd love a reversal, but we can't afford it, it's not covered under mandate in our state, etc etc. Also, the only reason I'm insured right now is because I was pg, so my insurance ends Dec 31. So if I get anything done, it will have to be SOON.
