well, after all the recent threads about restarts, i was happy that we hadn't had that problem. until today :-(
is this how it has been happening for all of you? we put a new sensor in yesterday, and it worked fine for about 24 hours. this afternoon we got "weak sensor". i kept watching it, and it said that for 30 minutes (never went to lost sensor) and then said "start". now it says "3 hour start". i tried to calibrate but it is making me wait the 2 hours, argh!
i called MM and he said "oh it probably had some interference and it should be ok after you calibrate". yeah right. i am not confident about that. if it doesn't work, i will make sure to call back for a replacement.
luckily, it was a single sensor that we got to replace a previous sensor that didn't work right (for different reasons) so at least we don't have a whole box of the same lot.
gonna take a new one out of the fridge now and put that in later tonight.

For us it didn't even last 24 hours before we got our restart. The minimed person told me the same thing, could be a wireless device you have in your home! For us our lot number began with a J, and my rep told me those were some they were having trouble with. We haven't put a new one in yet, from the replacement set because I am waiting to get some different tape first.

As for your messages, that is how it happened...it said 3 hour START, and wouldn't let me calibrate for another 2 hours. I've now learned if it does that to just pull it out!

ok thanks.
i hope your next one works better and you don't get too frustrated!
when the CGM is working, it is awesome, and worth it!
don't give up! :-)

If it is any encouragement, I had almost a whole box that didn't work right. I am forever the optimist and kept trying new ones. I have used 2 of the replacements now and have not had a single restart.

If my son gets started on the CGM soon at college and has these problems, he's going to be frustrated as all get out to add the start up on top of studying, exams, part-time work. He's already stressed without trying the CGM. Trying to remain optimistic....

laurie,
it's not usually like this for us. riley's been using the CGM since the last week of july, and we only had 2 bad sensors until this recent one. other than that, it has been great.
i hope your son gets the CGM and likes it! i can't imagine not having it now.

ok, so after having the restart yesterday afternoon i took a new one out and planned on putting it in last night. i hadn't yet pulled the other one cause we usually wait a few hours after taking the new one out of the fridge. plus, was waiting for my husband to get home cause holding her down is a 2 person job :-)
anyway, went ahead and calibrated the current sensor around 5pm last night and it is still working? who knows? maybe it was a fluke interference thing?
we'll see how it goes the rest of today.

I hate to be a downer, but it will most likely happen again. :(

What do you have the Lost Data setting at? If it is less than 30 minutes then you will get the Weak Sensor alarm and so will be alerted that it well might be happening soon. (We had ours at 40 minutes until recently and so would get the restarts without warning ... just would find we were in the warm up period, with no data. I don't want anyone else to be in that scary boat!).

I hope I am wrong about the restart!

It happened with us twice in one day and after I taped even better same sensor lasted for 21 days.:)

I've found that if I try to start a new sensor when I'm near my cell phone, it will not work. The only time I've had to re-start was after swimming.
