What do guys use to carry all their "stuff"? I figure most females have a purse but when going out for the day...say to a football game...where do you carry the meter, strips, insulin pen and glucose tabs?? I know some cargo pants work well but what about those times guys are wearing normal pants? Do the Frio wallets hold more than just the insulin...can you put test strips in there too?

Most often Dean only carries his little black pouch with him that came with his original BD meter and test strips. He also uses pockets from cargo shorts/pants - but again to stuff his black pouch in. Also he likes these "sackpacks" I guess maybe you call them. Here's a link. He doesn't have the Frio wallet.

You can wear these like a small back pack.

I don't know about "older" guys but I am anxious to read any responses. My guys is only 7 but I know that will be an issue someday. We just received the Staiwell backpack and really like it. It looks like a small backpack - plain - nothing girly but it big enough to carry a day of supplies, snacks, carb book, etc.

I wear a backpack or knapsack most of the time.
But all of it does fit in my pants pockets.
DePaul has lockers and I didn't get one my freshman year, but when I was diagnosed with diabetes in the fall of my sophomore year, I got a locker. It used to have an extra meter with strips and a lancing device (I've used all the strips and haven't put in new ones yet). It always has some sort of carb food. Right now it has lots of matzah.
The locker is excellent because I lose and forget my stuff all the time. It hasn't saved my life yet, but I think it has come close. I live seven miles off campus.

I wear a backpack almost all the time to. I keep my meter in it's plain old pouch, and usually have glucose tabs or a juice box floating around the bottom. I try and keep glucagon in there too, but forget sometimes. I have a make up bag (I know, girly, but you can easily substitute a more masculine pencil case or something) I have 2 extra sets, reservoirs, insulin vial, syringes, batteries, and a back up meter in. I take this with me if I know I won't be able to go back to my room for awhile.

My daughter drives back and forth to college - without stops it's about a 7-1/2 to 8 hour drive.
Anyone know a website where I could find supplies designed for her to carry her insulin and keep it cold? Is there such thing as a cooler for insulin? Or something that could be kept cold using the outlet in the car?

Ideas:
A lunchbox with ice or a blue ice pack.
A small cooler with ice or blue ice pack.
Frio pack (keeps insulin the same temperature). http://www.lifesolutionsplus.com/frio-insulin-travel-wallet-extra-small-p-422.html

I appreciate that and will look into it. She's also going to be traveling by plane over Spring Break and it would be good to have something to keep it cool in just in case of delays. Wish I had thought about this before she did her "study abroad" this summer...but she was also only 2 months into her diagnosis and we just had so much to absorb!

Yes! http://www.amazon.com/Medi-Refrigerator-Refrigerates-Injectable-Lightweight/dp/B000N3W61A/
Keep in mind you may need to purchase a separate adaptor, I'm not sure.

I am answering my own original question here.....someone just suggested that digital camera cases are very inexpensive and are great for carrying meters, test strips, insulin pens, etc. Of course these won't keep insulin cold but are a great inexpensive idea for daily use. Just thought I would pass this along!

Thanks to everyone.
I showed my daughter the Frio pack and she actually thought it was a good idea. It's so hard to know with her because she is so guarded about her diabetes and wants so much to be the one totally in control of the situation.
So...I was pleased when she not only thought it a good idea, but she didn't get mad at me for locating one and showing it to her!
We're making progress!

We have used a digital camera case for our son for about 4 months now. Like everyone else we are always trying to make it easier on him since he is 9. We took a small snaplink like most people use on their keychain and hook the case to a beltloop. This keeps him from wearing a belt since he hates them. We put BG strips, *****, pump, alcohol wipes, and BG tablets in the case and send him off to school. So far so good.

LOL four words: Baggy pants big pockets.
Hoodies with a front pocket are good too.
also I have seen guys with a backpack, a couple of guys who put it in a big stocking cap and wear it on their head.
Boys dont have the luxury.
 they gotta look cool, and purses dont look cool.
