Well, that one wasn't from me!!!! Mine had a few swear words in it to make sure I blended in with the crowd. All I can say is Wow!!!!! Some peoples kids just got hit the not so smart stick (this is now me being politically correct - I would never actually call some peoples kids dummies)...it really goes to show what main stream society thinks about diabetes...confirms what we have all thought and posted about numerous times.

Those comments are from people all over and it saddens me to see just how misinformed people are. For a while I wasn't sure if it was me being overprotective of my child or if people were really that ignorant. After reading some of the absolutely ridiculous comments on that site, I'm seriously wondering if our efforts to better educate the public about diabetes may actually be a wast of time. I'm hoping that the idiots who posted on that site don't represent the majority of the public because if they do, we're in deep trouble. I mean seriously, if someone came up to me and made a stupid comment like those that were posted, I'm not sure how I'd react. I'd probably respond by saying "Hey ya know you might be on to sumtin and I bet the CIA has the secret locked up in Area 51". One says it's a mental disease, another said they knew somebody who knew somebody else that went to China for herbal treatment and SHAZZAM they were cured. So many people are throwing the Raw thing out there. It seems like the 'diet' itself is good for people, the thing that pisses me off is that the company doing the film DOES NOT differentiate the 2 types. It's obvious they have a following and imo they are part of the problem for sending out vague information (not telling what type). :eek:OK, so I am absolutely driving myself nuts with this Halle Berry thing and I decided to google her just to see what was out there. You all probably know this already, but article after article quotes her saying she has Adult Onset Diabetes or Type 2 diabetes. (articles from several years ago). Then I see she kicked off a National Diabetes Education Campaign in 2004.

"I'm pleased to join the 'Diabetes Aware' campaign," said Ms. Berry, Academy Award and Golden Globe winning actress, who is living with type 1 diabetes. "Hopefully through our efforts, we will empower people to better understand what it means to live with diabetes and not be afraid to seek help."

So how is an 'educated' person with Type 2 (usually) suddenly confused and recently thinking she has beaten Type 1 and 'dropped' to Type 2?

I know, beating a dead horse. Just had to get that out of my system and now I am going to do something more constructive!

What she said about Type 1 was good but she needed to be more clear about Type 2. Not all people with type 2 can control it with just diet and exercise. Some need medications and/or insulin depending on where they are in the progression of the disease. Type 2 is progressive. It is controllable but it is progressive.

I have been all over the HB link on Perez Hilton since Friday.
The miss education that many who responded was infuriating - they sounded even more stupid than HB. Thank god for the parents and type 1's who responded and set the record straight! And that Perez called her on it and brought it to the worlds attention!!
