This is a very readable research article. Once again it shows the influence of the patient's knowledge about diabetes, beliefs and attitudes and the relationship with the healthcare professionals. with respect to adherence.
We must acknowledge the fears patients feel. Some of those fears are a direct results of warnings from physicians "if you don't do what I tell you, you'll have to use insulin" rather than helping a patient identify how valuable insulin may be in the progression of the disease process. How many healthcare providers really try to imagine what it feels like to be the patient?
