On Wednesday I went into the hospital for some tests for my stomach. Last night the doc called and said everything looked okay--so its just my lovely IBS that has been really really acting up. I'm happy its not Chron's but I'm still left with feeling crummy all the time. :(

Thanks...:)I'm relieved as well to know its not Chrons or something horrible. I've had IBS for about 16 years now, but lately its just getting sooooo bad both the doc and i thought it was something else. Hopefully my stomach settles down soon.

I suffer also from IBS. Within the last two months I have cut back on breads and refined sugars and started taking the following vitamin supplements
Calcium/Magnesium/Zinc
Fish oil tablets
multi B-vitamin
I have definitely noticed a difference. It has also helped with my migraines. It has cut them down by about 80%.

Are we twins? :DI get migrains as well- but since i've cut out msg and artificial sweetners they're not as frequent. What are all thos vitamin supplements supposed to do?
I have tried cutting back on all sorts of foods during all these years and i haven't found any triggers. A sip of water can have me running to the bathroom in 5 minutes(go figure). The doc just put me on Bentyl to take 3 times a day, have you ever tried that? its not working yet...ugh

Glad to hear it's not Crohns.
I had to take Colestid (a colesterol med). It helps move bile salts more efficiently through the intestines. Many people who've had their gallbladder out require this regimine. It works well. My gp has also said that now some docs are prescribing low doses of Prozac as it slows down the motility of the body.
Hey, we could all use a little Prozac:D I know I sure can!

Colestid? does it come in a powder form that you have to mix with water. I remember taking that after i had my gallbladder out 5 years ago.
Anyway, i'll ask my doc about it.

No, I have never tried the Bentyl you mentioned. Here is what I have tried and didn't work
First of all my migraines started 2 1/2 years ago. I would get about 4-5 a week, Yah, really!!!
2 CT scans- normal
I started out taking Imitrex 50mg - which I still take when I get a migraine.
Allergy shots- didn't work
I had 3 steriod shots in the last 1.5 years - didn't work
prednisone along with enderol- didn't work
Topamax- didn't work- made me really sick.
So, I went to the Woman's Health Care Clinic, conviced that I had a vitamin deficiency of some kind. The doctor there suggested taking these supplements 2-3 times-a-day, cut back on white bread and refined sugars. Which I have over the last two months along with breads and sugars. I haven't completely cut them out of my diet, but about 80%.
I researched Magnesium and it is supposed to help with nerve function in the body and a lot more. Do some research on Magnesuim itself, you will be amazed what it can do for your body.

Forget:
All the things I tried were for my migraines. I have just noticed the vitamin supplements have also helped with my IBS. I don't know why. I'm gonna ask the doctor about that. My IBS isn't really severe, It usually will bother me more during menses.

glad to hear it isn't crohns. I have ulcerative colitis so I can understand how miserable you can be at times.
