Hello all,

This may be an odd request, but I really need some help for a school project. I am a student at Boston University's School of Management, and our team must come up with a new product idea and subsequently create a business plan.

Our product is a pill dispenser in the shape of a fun animal for children that have to take pills regularly (from what I have read, type 2 requires taking medicine regularly) that has an alarm that can be set for a specific time. Our target market is parents of children ages 4-10, and so in regards to this, we need interviews from our target market to see if these parents like our product and what they would value most from it. We have interviewed parents whose children take vitamins, however, it is quite difficult to find parents whose children take medicine regularly here on campus, so I have turned here for help.

If anyone is interested in helping our team with creating a better product, you can reply here or please contact me at my e-mail, nataliax@bu.edu, and I can send you the questions, although any and all feedback in general is appreciated. All answers will be for educational purpose only and are simply for our benefit to know what parents would want to see, as well as their children's preferences in terms of animals and colors. I thank you all so much and really do appreciate your help!

Hi Natalia,

You are right that many Type 2 diabetics require medication in pill form, but very few children aged 4-10 have Type 2. Increasing numbers of teens do, but still the overwhelming majority of kids with diabetes have Type 1 -- which requires daily injection of insulin.

So you probably need to change your focus somewhat. Good luck with your project.

50% of the newly diagnosed kids with diabetes in South Texas have type 2. Times are a changing.

Other good diseases to look at may be CF, asthma, allergies, JRA, and gastric reflux. Those are the ones I can think of.
