Diabetics have a higher risk of kidney disease...well, I have higher. My dad has now got polycystic kidney disease (inherited) and I had an ultrasound done...I have two small cysts on my right kidney, the biggest 8mm long (which is quite tiny). I'm in no danger but it's hard to have even an higher risk that most diabetics.

Between 40 and 45 percent of people with kidney failure are diabetics.

Si, but you have to ask what came first the diabetes or the renal failure, and we have to specify that we are talking about chronic kidney failure, as a serious bout of diarrhea can cause acute renal failure.
Diabetes and kidney failure go hand in hand, and this is very unfortunate.
