OMG! Before dinner, Cameron was 203, 2 hours later 98 (he had soccer practice after dinner), he had his snack (ice cream), was wrestling around with his older brother and started to "feel funny", checked himself and he was 32!!!!!!! We gave him OJ right away and checked him 5 min later... 39!! I sat with him on the sofa (he was scared) and told him we needed to give the OJ a chance (meanwhile DH was getting the Glucagon ready if we needed it ) and then when I checkd him again he was up to 80!!! We just gave him some peanut butter crax and milk........ It will be a long night here.......

It just amazes me how he can go so low so fast.............

I HATE D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How crazy! I hope you are breathing normally, now. What a scare. We've never been that low, but Brian has had quite a few 40's lately. It is scary. I hope your night goes well.

That is very frightening, isn't it?--One time Jennifer was 28, I think it was! And she passed out!--I don't think I had a glucagon kit at the time (the doctor had never prescribed one!). I was pouring sugar into her! And I carried her across the living room to the couch! She was 11 1/2 at that time, I think.

I hope all gets better quickly! Hugs to you all!

Christina,

BEWARE! chances of a 2nd hypo after a nad hypo are high. you may have another hypo! especially in the night. check BGs more for a perio of 48 hours.

It must be something in the air. I can't keep Brandon's numbers up! I tried to lower his Lantus by 1/2 unit, but he had really bad highs. Brought the Lantus back up, and we are fighting late night and middle of the night lows. Most nights I've not even been covering dinner, and he still is waking me up with a low.

Are you sure the hihgs weren't rebounds? If your having lows during the night...I would lower the Lantus back down. I was always taught to adjust the Lantus by 1 full unit:confused: When were the highs???

I hate the lows that are hard to treat. Usually Rachel bounces back and is off out the door after 2-3 glucose tablets. The ones where she lays around and barely comes up at all, we find really scary. Its hard waiting for the glucose to kick in :cwds:

I was always taught to adjust the Lantus by 1 full unit

I used to adjust both Lantus and Humalog by "smidges". Thats when the plunger barely moves in the syringe. Then we went to "smudges" which was closer to 1/4 unit. If you are giving only 2-5 units of lantus in a small child, then to raise it by 1 unit is a huge amount.

Well, Cam rebounded up to 438 at 1:30 a.m. and is down to 328. I've decided to let him sleep in this a.m. and will take him to school later, if at all........

No, the highs were after we lowered his Lantus. He would run high all day. I even tried changing his ratios to cover the highs, but as soon as the Novolog wore off he would go high again. So, I raised the Lantus back up and changed his ratios back. His numbers are great during the day, it's just at night where we are seeing problems.
