Can anyone help me with this??
We use the Guardian CGM - we go 6 days before changing the sensor. We disconnect and recharge the transmitter - typically takes 20 minutes or so (blinking green light stops). For the past few months we have had trouble with the new sensor, insertion goes fine, we hit new sensor and wait for the 2 hr warm-up and then the trouble begins. We start getting alarms for
"change sensor" - which you should be getting only after a few off calibrations, not in a new sensor warmup where you haven't even calibrated yet. So we will clear alarm and hit new sensor - we do this over and over again, and eventually (4 - 5 hrs later) it eventually asks for a BG and then works fine for the next 6 days.. GRRRRR!
Sensor changes used to go smoothly - I have called several times into the help line and they have sent us new sensors, we have checked the monitor with a self test and have checked the transmitter with the plug - all come out fine. I was on the phone last night with Medtronic for over 40 minutes brainstorming what the heck is the problem...
Yesterday was a sensor change day, and I spent 5 hrs clearing an alarm and waiting to put in a BG - it did finally happen but then I got a calibration error and more alarms from there - I pulled the sensor. Today, I put the transmitter in the charger and kept it there for 5 hrs, although yesterday it said it had a full charge - and today the lights stopped blinking after only 5 minutes... I also pulled a sensor from a new box (which I have done before).. Anyway, the whole insertion and warmup, meter BG 2 hrs later went perfect - which hasn't happened FOREVER!
So - do I need to keep the transmitter in the charger for hours?? Any other ideas out there??? Medtronic also suggested I keep the sensors in the fridge even if they are the ones that do not need to be refrigerated. They also suggest - I insert the sensor and let that sit without connecting transmitter for 3 hrs (WHAT?? - that would be 5 hrs without sensor with 2 hr warm up)... I put in the sensor and let it sit for 10 minutes or so, then connect transmitter. I am just frustrated, as I don't know exactly what the problem is... HELP!
