I saw this, also, and thought, I cannot believe it. So many researchers doing complicated things...I laughed and cross my fingers that it works! I would be able to tear down my bulletin board with all the research papers on it! I guess human trials are starting from what I understand.

Yep, it would be great.

But, this news article, the only one I've seen on this, glosses over so many details (like what type of diabetes they are talking about) that it's got very little value beyond a random rumor in the rumor mill.

I don't doubt that they have genetically modified lettuce to produce insulin, it's the rest that is pretty sketchy without some reference to some scientific publication of the study somewhere.
