Have any of you had your pump bought through a company other then the pump company that made the pump? If so does it all work the same with the warranty, and support ect???? And how much was the mark up from the distributer you had to go through?

Thanks for any replies, Jamie

We had to with Danielle's Cozmo...but to be honest, I'm not sure about the markup and such as the company we went through worked with our insurance and billed us for the rest. I do know that when we Cozmo released the new upgrade this year and offered free upgrades to pump users, we were able to go directly through Smiths Medical to get an upgraded pump.

Jaime~
Could you call the pump company that your referring to and ask? At least could find out if you had a prescription for the pump how much does the pump cost straight up with no insurance.

Our insurance authorizes it for purchase through a certain company. The pump company works with all parties involved (insurance, 3rd party, etc) and arranges for the pump. They seem to be pretty good at navigating the insurance game

Jesses first Cozmo was bought by my ins company 5 years ago. they dealt directly with Deltec. This time around, we had to use a 3rd party surgical supply. My endo wrote the prescription... faxed it to Deltec... and they faxed it to edgepark. Once Edgepark got tthe fax, they shipped it .. the whole process took a week??

My husband is getting his very first pump!!! Yay!! He chose the Cozmo. Went to the doc and got the script faxed to them. Our insurance assured us when we signed up that they'd cover ANY pump. They were also going to approve CGMS for Julia if we had chosen to get it, however our durable medical is only $5,000 per person per year. The year starts over in November, so we are trying to push it through since pump supplies are durrible medical that way he can start in November, or even sooner so that he can use it up for the pump, then have another $5,000 for supplies, and whatnot. Anyhow, Smith called him today and told him it had to go through a third party supplier that works with our insurance company, but didn't elaborate a whole lot. I don't know if he asked them any of these questions, but he called and asked me, and I have no clue. Animas took care of the whole thing and there wasn't anything I had to do, really. I just submitted the paper work to them, and that was it, but we've changed insurance companies since, so I dunno.

Thanks for sharing with me. I'll let him know to call Smith's Medical tomorrow.

Definitely call Smith's. They handled everything for us and navigated the insurance thing like pros. They'll get it handled for you quickly and painlessly. We filled out a form about insurance and they took everything over from there. The insurance form is on this page (http://www.cozmore.com/default.cfm/PID=1.39) if you need it.
