It is my first week off at college, and I have all of my supplies for my pump and CGM and everything is going great. Well today I needed to change my sensor, so I decided to put it in my arm because all of my other usual places needed a break.
The insertion went fine, but I could not get the needle out. The needle was acctually stuck in me. That is when I realized that when I put it in my arm, my mom usually takes out the needle for me.
So I went up to the health ceter with a needle sticking out of my arm, and when I got there I told the nurse and she just gave me the deer in headlights look, and kind of freaked out. The doctor got it out but it took me about 5 minutes of explaining to her how to pull it correctly, and that it was suppose to stay in my body.

I just feel so stupid for not being able to take the needle out by myself.

Aw man I'm sorry you felt like an idiot. If my son ends up being approved for the CGM, he'll be right there with you!!! I worry about how it's going to all work out if we get him started on it when he's all by himself at college. I think we're going to have to get it going when he's home at Christmas - even assuming insurance approves it.

Anyway, {{hugs**** to you!!!!!! :cwds::cwds:

Well there's a memorable start to your school year!

Gotta figure it can only get better after that...

I'm proud of you~ you handled it well.
I understand where you feel silly, that's an age thing, that will go away, but I bet your mom is happy. :D

Nah, the one that should feel silly is that nurse who did not know what to do... if she is a student health nurse, she should be up to date on this stuff.

You did a great job. You were smart to go to the nurse. I have type one and went to college-and was not good about asking for help! Plus, I sometimes even after many years have a brain freeze on how to do some things with my care and need to go back to the books. Take care. Ali
