Hi, new to this forum. Looking for some help. Our 5yr old son supplied with a Medtronic Minimed 522 insulin pump in June 2007. Great for the first 5 weeks. Since then we have been experiencing air in both the reservoir and cannula. Obviously when the reservoir is filled and changed there is no air in it but after about 10 hours air bubbles appear in both the reservoir and cannula. Have spoken to both clinic - RVI in Newcastle, James is the youngest child at the clinic to have a pump and they have limited experience - and Medtronic technical services. Neither have been able to solve the problem.
I suspect that the batch of reservoirs we have is faulty though this is refuted by Medtronics.
Anyone else experienced this problem?

Many thanks

Is the insulin room temperature when you fill the resivoir? If the insulin is cold, air bubbles will form as it warms up to room temp. That's the only thing I can think of...

Hi Brenda, the insulin has been allowed to come up to room temperature before the reservoir has been filled.
I am convinced it is a faulty batch of reservoirs - have ordered new supply and requested a different batch.
