I'm fed up with the inaccuracy of my Accu-chek aviva meters. We've checked against the endo's venous blood draw three times, on three different accu-cheks. The first time, the accu-chek was about 10% high, which was fine with me. I lost that meter. The second time, it was a little over 30% high, which was not at all fine with me. I switched meters. This most recent time, it was 20% high.
My endo says that you can't rely on it to always be high and just adjust from there either.
My insurance covers Accu-chek and Prescision meters only. I was thinking that the Accu-chek Active, which changes color on the strip, might be more accurate, or at least let me check that it's not 50% off or something crazy like that. Have any of you tried the accu-chek active and some other accu-chek? Can you tell me about accuracy?

Hmmm...I just got the Aviva and have been using it. I'm going to check it today against Carson's Flash.

Our endo's office uses the Aviva and it was within a few points of Carson's Flash last week. Did you try the control solution?

Sorry I'm not much help w/other meters.

Yeah, it's fine with the control solution, and the few times I've checked it against other meters it's been ok. My first aviva I think was pretty accurate, but not the second and third. The endo uses the venous blood to get a really good comparison, 'cause another home meter is probably just as inaccurate.

I have two OneTouch Mini's and an Accu-chek Aviva, and I can count on the Aviva to always be around 20 mg/dl higher than the Mini's, and the Mini's to be within just a couple mg/dl of each other, every single time. All are within range for their control solutions, and are consistant. I just figured it was the brand.

I've tried an Accu-chek Active, and I am not a fan. It takes a HUGE blood drop and I didn't notice that it was any more accurate than the others, but my former CDE recommended it highly.
