I was just wondering where the best place to get a neckalace AND a bracelet would be to get for my son. I want him to have a bracelet but he wants a neckalace. So we agreed he would get both. But I am not sure where to go to get one that he would wear all the time without him feeling it is a burden to him to wear it. I guess I kinda want him to feel pround to wear it and for ppl to know that he has accepted it and is going to defeat it and not let it defeat him. I know I might sound a little wierd about it but he has shown so much courage since he was DX'd. Has not fought it at all,or his dad and I when we are always on him about checking his BG's and where he wants his shots. He has friends around the neighborhood and he treis to explain it to them and everyperson that comes along. It's great to see him trying to explain it to people. If you guys could help that would be great. Thanks

We like these bracelets, but we buy a lot because the lettering wears off after awhile.

Danielle loves the rubbery ones too. We got her's here:
www.CoolMedID.com
They have an awesome choice of colors and Danielle (being almost 14) doesn't fuss about wearing them.

We have a local engraver/silversmith who has many choices of medical alert jewelry. He has some bracelets with a masculine link. He uses a computerized engraving machine and puts all the information on the back that we want (type 1 diabetes, insulin pump, phone number etc. )

OUr 8 year old wears a dog tag for a necklace and we got it at http://usdogtags.com/medical_tags.htm. I can't remember where we got his bracelet from but he loves it since the band is skull and crossbones. People here had offered the link to the place - it has a slide on metal piece and you can change the bands if you want. I am sure someone will post it.

American Medical ID has a wide selection for adults and kids.

Weve also gotten a couple from Fifty50:

American Medical ID will put a lot of personal info on your tag- I have 4 phone #'s (dr, home, 2 cells), her name, "insulin dependent diabetes" and "do not remove pump" on one!

last ones we used were american medical id.. and we've also gotton them from sticky jewelery.. theres are really cute (for little girls.. and little boys.. I"m not sure about the older boys.. ).. for the necklace type I'd suggest the dogtag style.. I know in our local walmart they actually have a machine that will do it right thre.. its actually pet tags, but they advertise the use for other thing, book tags and such.. they have the typical dog tags and you can get three or four lines on it.. then just find a silver chain for it:)

Thanks - I just placed an order for a dog tag. My son likes the coolmedid rubber bracelets but I don't like that they do not have any contact info on them. I also like the lower cost of these two items!
We use Oneida Nameplate:

They have fabulous customer service and are pretty reasonable pricewise.

I am struggling with this right now too.
I have a 2 year old. I just got one of the velcro "sports bands" that has the card inside for info. She wants to pull it off. Its also huge on her arm. She won't keep rubber bracelets on her arm. The Lauren's Hope ones are too big.
Can anyone tell me what they have gotten for a 2 year old that they'll not take off or play with that fits them well?

jesse has been wearing the same one for almost 6 years, since diagnosis at 9.5 years old. He is now 15... I replaced the sterling chain about 3 years ago.. and added more links last year. the emblem looks just as good as the day I bought it.

We got ours at the diabetes conference. It is an italian charm bracelet. Brandon likes the fact that it is expandable if he needs it bigger. I like the fact that we can buy different italian charms and add to it. We got a charm at disney and put into the bracelet and one from sea world and wild animal park. They are very cool to have. I want to say our cost was $35 which was in my opinion well worth it. It is the only bracelet my son has ever kept on.

I got this for Kaylee when she was three (a very petite 3 years old..)

This band you can shorten as much as you need too.. The one problem I had was the extra fabric tail from shortening it so much.. but that can easily be cut off and then quickly stitch the end up so it doesn't fray.. you can now get extra bands without having to buy the metal piece (which is often the most expensive part..) so she can match them to her clothing:)
the website is here http://stickyj.com/medical-emergency-childrens-medical-ids.html
also her most recent ones I got from americanmedicalid.com.. I really like those.. and they are easy adjustable as well.. but I found their site to be painful hard to navigate.. it was hard for me to find their order form.. drove me insane!
