What meter do you use for your child? Do you like it? Have you used any other meters? Likes/Dislikes?
We just received the new One Touch Ultra 2. I have an UltraSmart and she did too but the dr. wanted her to have a different one from mine. It seems ok. Only have used it twice so far and I have not had a chance to play around with it yet. But I love my UltraSmart.:D

I dont understand why they want you to use someting diffrent? what so you dont mix them up.. no big deal you put a sticker on one or etch it.. w. the ultrasmart you can buy a new face plate thing for it...

We use the UltraSmart. It has a lot of bells and whistles, some I use, others I don't. I like the fact that I can scroll back and forth through the readings (can't on the plain OneTouch). I also find that since this meter is larger, we don't drop it as much as the OneTouch, this one seems more durable.

We use the BD Paradigm Link meter that communicates with her pump. Overall it's not my favorite because it's very small and has no back light, but automatically sending her BG to the pump is awesome!
Before that we used the Ultra Smart and really liked it.
My husband and daughter have always used the same kind of meter, it makes stocking up on test strips a lot easier! :)

We also use the BD Paradigm Link meter that came with our pump. I love that it requires very little blood and it communicates with the pump. I've used the one touch, one touch ultrasmart and the accucheck compact. We started out with the accu chek compact and loved not having to mess with strips! But then we changed insurance companies and our new insurance didn't cover that brand.:( So as long as we are on the paradigm pump we will continues to use the BD meter........

I also use the BD Paradigm Link meter with my pump and love that it sends my sugar right to my pump. I used the One Touch and One Touch Ultrasmart and loved both. I agree, the Ultrasmart was handier and more durable.

we use accu-check aviva its the only one james has used hes only been diagnosed 7 weels! it requires very little blood and pretty fast readings you can also scroll through it to check all the readings i can also link it to my pc and it does a graph to show highs lows normal which is quite handy to show the dsn

Her Ultra 2 seems ok. It still takes the same strip as my UltraSmart so I will be able to stock up on strips as well. It doesn't do the neat graphs or anything like that. But it does the averaging and it has a large type on it too.

Hey Regge,
Just to let you know, the Ultra 2 should work with the same software as the Ultra smart.
When my daughter was using the ultra smart my husband had the ultra and they are both compatible with the software. It's pretty handy! (we never realized this until we tried it :) )

We haven't tried the software yet. Might be a good idea though. How much are the interface cables? Will the same cable fit both meters?

It fits both the Ultra Smart and Ultra, so surely it fits the Ultra 2 as well. It was about $15.
