Yesterday I got a rush of mixed feelings because of Deacon's diabetes. When they are kids you want them to show some independence. Deacon showed another moment of independence. I came in from the porch to find that he had opened the fridge and poured himself a cup of orange juice. I was proud of him for being able to pour himself a drink but it was OJ!! I had no idea how much he drank. His bg went to 206 (which is not bad for his age) and went down to 157 and at lunch it was 79. This was without me correcting. I took him and his brothers to the park to run. I explained which jug he was supposed to pour out of for next time.

That is great and the same time so sad, I know when Phoenix started pouring himself drinks I was so proud and at the same time so worried. We dont have OJ in the house at all since it is his favorite drink but makes his BS go sky high. I have a container for just his juice (crystal light, sf coolaid etc) it is clear with a blue top (his favorite color) and if my husband has juice, tea ect his is in a solid green container with a green top. That way Phoenix know's that one is daddy's juice.

How old is Deacon?

He will be 3 September 9. We are visiting my parents and that is how there is OJ. normally the juice is not where he can reach it.

Hehe, they want to be so independent, don't they!! I found Mia yesterday in the bathroom dismantling her insulin pump, taking out the cartridge etc ... all while she was still connected :eek:...she wanted to know how it worked!! I immediately disconnected her and firmly explained that she may want to call me first and disconnect before the next time LOL.

I think the only reason why he is pouring at 3 is because he has 3 older brothers who have shown him how to pour.
