Good day to you all,

I was pondering things today and realized that very rarely do I tally up carbs or protiens on a daily basis for Courtneys meals and snacks anymore. Do you over time naturally just fall away from doing that because you get to know instinctually what they need or should I really be more strict?

I know when she was diagnosed it was all consuming...and now I check things but not everything.:

Almost a year later, I still tally. I may not write down every bit of food eaten, but I still keep track in my head or on scrap paper. Either way, I still account for all food. I try and stick to my logs as much as possible.

HI
we just keep a "tally" going in our head.at this point we have it down what is in the norm, for her and not.. when things start to go hay wire or out of sorts then we chart adn tally every thing...

I have never kept track of the protein my 12 year old eats. I make sure he has some every day, but I have never written it down. I track the carbohydrate like a fiend. I use the UltraSmart meter to keep track of the food and insulin.

In the beginning I tracked and charted everything!! But now I only write things down when she's sick.
I now rely heavily on my pumps software which tracks all carbs, insulin and blood sugars. It charts them for me and saves me a lot of time!!

I never write down BS anymore, and I do keep a mental tally of carbs per meal ...not daily...but I have never tracked proteins or fats.....not even in the beginning.....did you all do those ?

I only track BS readings (required to submit weekly to d-team), and carbs. Two weeks before meeting w/our dietician, I write down every morsel, other than that I just jot carbs down on my log sheet...most of the time! We never charted fats or protiens, however, we do keep an eye on how much fat is consumed.

We are only 6 months into dx, but I still keep track of all carbs in my meal book. I don't track snacks since they are usually all around 15 g. I fill in his logbook every night and download his readings and type in his carbs and insulin givene for each meal on the One Touch software every couple of days. The software is the accumulates everything. I use 2 different meters and the nurse at school uses a different one, so everything is in one place, including comments and events w/ the software. Plus I can print it out or email it to his endo.

I still keep track of it all. I made up my own spreadsheet and I keep track of all bg readings, all carb intake, insulin doses and I keep a note indicating illness or more activity then usual,,,, so I can look back and see if there is a trend. I find it very helpful.
