I am so excited. We just got some diluted humulog finally and today David was in target all day for maybe the first time since dx in March. Being able to measure out 1/10th of a unit makes a big difference! It is after midnight and he is a bit on the high side, but has to be to make in through the night.
Just wanted to share my joy!
that`s great! i know, i always am so relaxed when my son has a whole day of good #`s.

Well, we were good this morning at wake up, But we are trying to switch back to mornings for lantus and only gave 1/2 last night and 1/2 this morning. Already had higher than I like reading- 15 at snack time. But, since I have the diluted insulin, I felt I could give him a little and his snack and not have him crash like would happen before! We shall see

I'm always happy to hear someone has found something that works for their child! :D
Kudos to you! I hope the good numbers continue!!!:)
Since I've never dealt with diluted insulin, was it a 50/50 vial? Did the pharmacy diluted it for you? An extra charge? Just curious more than anything...

I had to get another pharmacy to dilute it and send it to me via the bus :) It is a 1/10 mixture so a unit is really 1/10 of a unit. I use the regular humulog for a 1/2 or whole unit and then just add a bit extra!
My blue cross covers it the same as any other and I just pay 10 dollars for the prescription.
This will be good until we can get a pump. My husband is hoping to get his this fall. Our insurance only covers 1500 of a 6500 dollar pump, so we will need to wait a while to get another one for David!

My husband and I diluted our own insulin for a couple of years. You can get the pharmacy to order empty vials from Lilly and most insulins have a diluent you can order as well. At the time, we were diluting Regular, Humalog, and NPH insulins.
We obtained the syringes that transferred the insulin and diluent from the endo.
