My son has lived with diabetes since he was three -- he is now working on 13 years 4 months. Counting carbohydrates is a daily task that mostly fell on my husband and me, with minimal participation by the son.

I was recording his numbers today and asked what he ate for dinner as the tennis team stopped off at Burger King before heading for the long drive home. He told me and I looked up the nutritional information on the Burger King website. Total came to 91.

I asked what he figured. He replied he guessed it was about 90.

Not bad for a kid slowly working his way to independence.

Now if he could only remember to bolus every time he ate and test more that 2-3 times a day...

Going away to college is looking more promising -- at least for today. Plans are for him to be in college in Sept of 2012.

:D

Love it when they just 'do it" and do it right. :cwds:

Nice work!

Wow. Don't you love it when it seems as if something you have been telling them does appear to have made it inside their brains?

That is a good day. A very good day.

Congratulations to your son, and to mom and dad for being good teachers! For me, it is a little scary to hand over the reigns.
